Attending the University of Minnesota, I ventured into the foundry department.  I was immediately caught by the process, materials and possibilities.  As a student, I worked there for a couple of years and then moved west to Vashon.  The foundry department at Pratt City Arts in Seattle was a natural home.  I studied there for a several years.   Widening my scope, I began to paint with friends in studios and plein air.  My search for the abstract lead me to encaustic.  The layering and luminous qualities are like building blocks.  I can also add mixed media pieces to the work.  Cheerfully this often leads to word plays and humor.
