Death Vessels

In March, VALISE Artist Collective and Gallery presents “Death Vessels.” This show is part of the community-wide program, "A Vashon Conversation:  For the Living About Dying." VALISE Artist Members have invited other island artists to join them in exploring the death vessel as a last resting place. Our artist members have had lively conversations about the death vessel as urn, ship and method for transporting blood internally.

This exhibition explores the complex perceptions between life and death and engages with the human endeavor to control our exit from this life by envisioning the last vestiges of our remains in a death vessel. Expect to see these themes portrayed in paint, sculpture and mixed media.

The opening reception for “Death Vessels” is on First Friday, March 3 from 6 to 9pm. VALISE Gallery is located at 17633 VASHON Hwy SW. The gallery is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 4pm and by appointment.
